BMNR Crosses 6M ETH | Week of October 12, 2026
BitMine announced this week that its ETH holdings reached 6.03 million tokens, with total crypto plus cash and marketable securities of $16.2 billion (Source). The company bought 12,532 ETH over the week, extending a streak of weekly purchases that has run unbroken since the treasury strategy launched on June 30, 2025. Chairman Tom Lee pointed to BMNR's 731bp outperformance of ETH through the first nine months of 2026 and framed the company's 9.56% credit yield as a benchmark for ETH-backed paper, sitting 256bp below comparable Bitcoin credit (STRC).
That's the press release. Here's what our data actually shows.
The milestone is real, the discount is the story
The 6 million ETH goal is done. Our Treasury Dashboard has BitMine at 100.48% of target, holding 6,028,946 ETH, which is 4.9% of the entire 122.1 million ETH supply. Nobody else is close. Whatever you think of the strategy, the execution has been relentless: a purchase every single week for over fifteen months.
But the market isn't paying for it right now. BMNR trades at $24.03 against a NAV per share of $26.23, a MNAV of 0.916x. That's an 8.4% discount to the liquidation value of the treasury, and it widened this week, down another 0.035x from last Sunday's 0.951x. For a stock that spent most of its treasury era commanding a premium, two consecutive readings below 1.0x with the gap growing is the number worth watching.
NAV per share fell 6.92% to $26.23, almost entirely an ETH price story. ETH at $2,528.89 is nearly 16% below BitMine's average buy price of $3,009.36. The whole position is underwater on a cost basis. Lee can cite quarterly outperformance of 6,832bp against macro assets all he likes; holders bought an ETH proxy, and ETH has been falling.
The dilution math is getting harder to defend
Shares outstanding grew by 2,523,415 this week (+0.41%) while the treasury added 12,532 ETH (+0.21%). At current prices, that share issuance raised roughly twice the dollar value of the ETH acquired, so some of it is presumably building the $612 million cash pile. Fine. The problem is the price of issuance.
Selling stock at 0.916x NAV is mechanically dilutive to NAV per share. Every share issued below $26.23 hands new buyers treasury value that existing holders paid for. The ATM machine that was accretive at 1.5x, 2x, whatever premium BMNR used to command, now works in reverse. If the discount persists, the rational move is to slow issuance or stop it, and the fact that the goal is hit gives management cover to do exactly that. Whether they will is the open question. You can model the sensitivity yourself in our NAV Analysis playground.
ETH concentration works out to roughly 9,829 ETH per million shares. Watch that number. If it starts declining while mNAV sits below 1.0x, the treasury flywheel is running backwards.
Staking: flat, and that's worth a sentence
Staked ETH held at 5,067,309, exactly 84.0% of holdings, unchanged week over week. The press release values it at $12.9 billion on the MAVAN platform. Zero net staking growth for a week isn't alarming, but the 12,532 new ETH sitting unstaked means the staked ratio drifts down if this continues. Yield is the whole bull case for ETH over BTC treasuries (Lee's 256bp credit spread argument depends on it), so idle ETH is idle thesis.

What it means for holders
Two things can be true at once. BitMine is the dominant ETH treasury by a wide margin, it hit its stated accumulation target, and 84% of the stack earns staking yield. And the stock is a leveraged bet on an asset trading 16% below the company's cost basis, with the market now valuing the whole structure at less than the sum of its parts.
A sub-1.0x mNAV is either an opportunity or a warning, and the difference comes down to management behavior. Buybacks at a discount would be accretive per share in a way ETH purchases currently are not. Continued ATM issuance at 0.916x would tell you the growth narrative matters more to management than per-share value. Watch next week's share count before the ETH count.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does an mNAV of 0.916x mean? mNAV is the ratio of BMNR's market cap to the net asset value of its treasury (ETH plus cash). At 0.916x, the stock trades about 8.4% below the market value of the assets behind each share. Above 1.0x, investors pay a premium for the treasury strategy; below it, they're effectively buying ETH at a discount through the equity.
Why did NAV per share fall 6.92% if BitMine bought more ETH? The ETH price dropped. With 6 million ETH on the balance sheet, a move in ETH's price swamps the effect of a 12,532 ETH purchase. Share dilution of 0.41% also shaved a little off the per-share figure.
Is the 6M ETH goal actually complete? Yes. Holdings of 6,028,946 ETH put BitMine at 100.48% of the target. The question now is what the capital strategy looks like after the milestone, particularly whether issuance continues while the stock trades below NAV.
